MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police have taken two persons of interest into custody in relation to a stabbing on the city's east side.
The report came in around 7:40 Wednesday evening that someone had been stabbed in the stomach in the 2400 block of East Washington Avenue.
The 64-year-old victim was taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
The names of the persons of interest have not been released, but police believe this was not a random act of violence. Officials are continuing the investigation.

The Dane County Communications Center says officers were called to the 2400 block of E. Washington Ave on a report that someone had been stabbed in the stomach. Police officers at the scene say the victim was able to walk into the ambulance before being taken to the hospital.
Officials say two people took off after the incident, possibly in a tan vehicle.
