DENVER, CO (WKOW) -- Lawyers for James Holmes, the Colorado theater shooting suspect, have offered to have him plead guilty and spend the rest of his life in prison.
The offer was made in a motion filed Wednesday, but prosecutors haven't yet accepted it because they may want to pursue the death penalty.
The prosecution will make an announcement Monday, after consulting with victims and their families, as to whether or not they will seek capital punishment.
Holmes faces murder and attempted murder charges. A not guilty plea was entered for him by the judge, but he still has the option of changing that to not guilty by reason of insanity.
If prosecutors accept the offer, the case could be over Monday.
