Jurors listen to 911 calls in Schaffhausen girls slaying

ST. CROIX COUNTY (WKOW) -- Jurors listened to Jessica Schaffhausen's harrowing 911 call, as testimony began Tuesday in the trial of her ex-husband Aaron Schaffhausen.  He's accused of killing the couple's three daughters last July.

The mother of girls was inconsolable as she begged police to send officers to check on her daughters.  She called police right after Schaffhausen called her to say he had killed them.

Sobbing and breathing heavily, she told police about his history of mental illness and that he had stopped taking his anti-depressant medication.  Bu, Jessica Schaffhausen also said her ex-husband had stopped drinking and told her he was feeling better.

Aaron Schaffhausen has admitted killing his daughters at their River Falls home, but claims he was insane at the time.  Prosecutors argue he knew what he was doing and say Schaffhausen talked with co-workers about killing his children on several occasions.  They also say he called his ex-wife up to 40 times a day after their divorce.

Schaffhausen's trial resumes Wednesday at 8 a.m.
