MMSD announces make up instructional time schedules
MADISON (WKOW) -- Elementary students in the Madison Metropolitan School District will attend a full day of school on the final day of the year, instead of an early release.
The district announced their plan for making up instructional time due to school closings during winter. MMSD closed for two days due to snow this school year.
For elementary schools, June 13, the final day of school, will now be a full day. For students at the high school level, changes will be made to the schedule for La Follette High School only.
La Follette will add four instructional minutes to the end of every regularly scheduled day and 25 minutes to the last day of the year. Middle school students will not see any changes.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requires schools to meet statewide standards for number of days and hours of instruction during the school year. Due to unscheduled school closures, some changes are needed to meet these requirements. The number of required hours varies at each level.
