NORTH KOREA (WKOW) -- North Korea says its military has been cleared to launch an attack using what it describes as "smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear weapons."
The threat came from a Korean army spokesman early Thursday and is latest in a series of escalating warnings from North Korea.
They're upset about joint U.S. and South Korean military exercises taking place in South Korea and being hit by tougher sanctions for a February nuclear test.
North Korea's central news agency reports that troops have been authorized to counter U.S. aggression with "powerful practical military counteractions."
