MANITOWOC (WKOW) -- The director of Thunder on the Lakeshore Airshow says there won't be any military jets in the show this year.
Jutta Furca tells the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter the U.S. Air Force has grounded its Thunderbirds because of automatic federal budget cuts. She doesn't expect participation from the Army or Navy either.
The Thunderbirds are also scheduled to perform at the Experimental Aircraft Association's convention this summer. EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski says he hasn't heard from the Thunderbirds yet.
Furca says Thunder on the Lakeshore Airshow will go on. It is scheduled for June 8 and 9 at the Manitowoc County Airport. EAA is July 29 to Aug. 4 in Oshkosh.
