Judge allows controversial evidence in motorcycle death case
FON DU LAC COUNTY (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin judge will allow evidence officers found in the pockets of a man charged in a crash that killed two motorcycle riders from Michigan.
An attorney for the suspect, Clinton Lovelace, asked that items officers seized from his pants pocket after the crash be suppressed. But the Fond du Lac County judge denied that motion Wednesday.
The Fon du Lac Reporter says defense attorney Mary Wolfe argued officers should have gotten a search warrant before going through Lovelace's pockets at the hospital. Investigators say they found syringes and narcotics during the search.
Lovelace face 12 felony counts after crashing into a group of riders on a Fond du Lac County highway last year. Daniel Winsemius and Douglas Yonkers died as a result of the crash, and eight others were hurt.
