UDPATE: Mutilated dog case confirmed as not animal cruelty

Posted:

ROCK COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Rock County Sheriff's Office Humane Officer further investigated the case today.  Examination of the dogs reveal the dogs were most likely dismembered by wild animals.

Richard Procter Sr. was the owner of the dogs and was not able to care for his dogs. His daughter, 41-year-old Elizabeth Koogan, humanely euthanized the dogs.  She attempted to dispose the dogs in a dumpster near the area of the ditch.

Koogan was cited for littering due to improper disposal of the dog carcasses.

Rock County police say there is no apparent connection between this case and another case involving a dog in the same area late March.

ROCK COUNTY (WKOW) -- Rock County police investigate the deaths of two mutilated dogs.

They were dumped on the side of the road in Rock County. Sergeant Ken Marquardt, from the Rock County Sheriff's Office, says he does not think animal cruelty was involved.

Marquardt says the dogs were probably being eaten by other animals. The Rock County Sheriff's Office has been in touch with the owners of the dogs, who say the dogs were missing.

Police called in their animal patrol officer, who will continue to investigate the case.
