BOSTON (WKOW) -- A Middleton runner participating in his tenth straight Boston Marathon says he felt his hotel shake when the first of two explosions went off near the finish line Monday afternoon.
David Meixelsperger, the owner of Berkeley Running Company in Madison, says he had finished his race about two hours before the first explosion.
But he heard the blast loud and clear.
"I was in my hotel room which is about two blocks away and I felt the hotel shake," said Meixelsperger. "And then shortly after I saw the reports come on the television set here. And then, the finish line which is just right around the corner from my hotel became deserted in no time and I was thinking how I just ran through there just two hours prior to this situation."
Meixelsperger says he made contact with five other people he knows that ran in today's race and that all of them are OK.
More than 50 Madison-area residents ran in the Boston Marathon on Monday. At the time of this report, 27 News has received no reports that any of them are among the dead or injured.
