Cindy Crawford helps raise money for American Family Children's Hospital
MADISON (WKOW) -- For the past seven years the Merrill Lynch Grand Gala has raised more than $2.5 million for community organizations. This year they're partnering with the American Family Children's Hospital.
The event Friday featured a formal dinner, silent auction and a celebrity guest speaker. Super model and philanthropist Cindy Crawford spoke during the event, sharing a personal experience with the children's hospital.
"My brother was treated here when he was a child and I was a child. He had leukemia and unfortunately he died, but after his death I think one way for our family to help heal and grieve was to give back to the hospital where he was treated," Crawford said.
Crawford has been an advocate and contributor for the hospital for more than 25 years. With Crawford's help, organizers are hoping to raise more than $400,000.
