WI wants to increase plastics recycling

Posted:
MADISON – The state wants to increase plastics recycling and needs input from the public.

Wisconsin's Council on Recycling has a new campaign that will focus on increasing the recovery of plastic films and bags, rigid plastic products and packaging like deli trays, buckets, toys, plastic furniture and plastic bottles. A study by the Department of Natural Resources last fall found that Wisconsin could gain substantial economic benefits if it recycles the estimated $64 million in plastics that now head to landfills every year.

If you want to give input on the subject, contact Cynthia Moore at cynthia.moore@wisconsin.gov. You can find more information about it on the DNR's website.
