MADISON (WKOW) -- The legislature's budget committee approved three education bills on Wednesday.
One would require every high school junior in the state take the ACT college entrance exam.
It would also replace the standardized test for elementary students.
Another bill would stop the implementation of the federal common core standards for Wisconsin students until more studies are done on its effectiveness.
And the third bill passed by Joint Finance on Wednesday would give military veterans preference status in registering for classes in the UW system.
The bills now move on to the full legislature for debate.
