RICHLAND CENTER (WKOW) -- Clean up continues Thursday in Richland County from Wednesday's severe weather, but new storms are making it more difficult.

"I think the biggest effect is going to be on the individual home owners and property owners that have been out trying to get debris off their home, trying to get debris out of their yard and they're seeing storm after storm," Richland County Emergency Management Director Darin Gudgeon says about residents trying to move forward after significant damage was reported in Richland Center and Gotham Wednesday evening.

Gudgeon says no new damage was reported Thursday afternoon, even though the county was under a tornado warning. Alliant Energy reported about 30 customers lost power and kids in the Richland Center School District were locked down at school until the warning was lifted.

RICHLAND CENTER (WKOW) -- The National Weather Service now says it was not a tornado that hit Richland County Wednesday, but rather a thunderstorm downburst straight-line wind.

The NWS says the only tornado to hit Wisconsin on Wednesday was in Grant County, northeast of Patch Grove.

The storm caused significant damage in the Richland Center and Gotham areas of Richland County.

RICHLAND CENTER (WKOW) -- The National Weather Service has completed their survey of damage in Richland County Thursday afternoon.

Richland County Emergency Management met with representatives from the National Weather Service this morning to confirm tornado activity and continue assessing the damage of Wednesday night's severe thunderstorm.

The survey of the damage is complete, now the National Weather Service will analyze radar data and review photos to make a determination.  Right now, it is unknown if the damage was caused by straight line winds, down bursts of wind or an actual tornado.

Approximately 30 properties in Richland County have reported property damage from the storm.

Those who need to report noteworthy property damage are asked to contact Richland County Emergency Management at 608-647-8187.

RICHLAND COUNTY (WKOW) -- Emergency officials in Richland County say Wednesday night's storm caused significant damage in several areas of the county.

A trained weather spotter reported a possible tornado touchdown near Richland Center.

Officials say the southern areas of the county had sustained winds of more than 60 miles per hour.

Richland County Emergency Management says the storm caused serious damage to the O'Brien Brothers, Mobil 1 Lube Express and Center Cafe buildings along Highway 14 East in Richland Center.

Authorities also say the Gotham area received significant damage and various power outages were reported in the area. Alliant Energy crews are working in the affected area.

People who live in these areas are asked to travel with caution because there are trees and power lines down.

No injuries have been reported.

Richland County Emergency Management says it will request assistance from the National Weather Service to confirm possible tornado activity tomorrow.
