WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- The summer grilling season is going to cost meat-eating Americans more this year.
The drought affecting parts of the southwest is driving up the cost of food for cows, leading to an increase in the price of beef.
Right now, an average pound of ground beef costs $3.26 a pound.
That's up almost 10 percent from last year.
Experts say the spike is due to soaring worldwide demand for U.S. beef, while the drought wipes out the feed.
