STURGEON BAY (WKOW) -- Authorities in northeastern Wisconsin say the pilot of a small plane ran out of fuel and crash-landed close to the runway at Door County Cherryland Airport near Sturgeon Bay.
The Door County Sheriff's Office says the crash occurred Saturday, June 2 at about 11:30 a.m.
Deputies say the 50-year-old was trying to land when he ran out of fuel and made an emergency landing in a grassy area about 200 feet from the runway.
The aircraft flipped over and landed on its top. The pilot was able to get out on his own. He was the only one in the plane.
His injuries are unspecified, but are not considered serious.
