Without aid, Wisconsin colleges hard to afford

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- As tuition rates increase, it's becoming more unaffordable for some students to pay for their education.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports tuition at University of Wisconsin's four-year campuses has risen above the inflation rate since 1987 and state support has been below inflation since 1980.
Rising tuition makes it difficult for a student to support themselves on just a summer job or part time work without family or need-based financial aid, or extreme debt after graduation.
UW System executive Mark Nook says students shouldn't work more than 20 hours per week, but some students say they have to and find little time to focus on their class work.
