3 veteran storm chasers killed by Oklahoma tornado
OKLAHOMA CITY (WKOW) – Oklahoma authorities say 16 people are dead from Friday's tornadoes and flash floods.
On Monday, crews will continue their search for at least six people who are still unaccounted for in the area.
Among the victims of last week's storms were three veteran storm chasers.
Jim Samaras said his brother Tim Samaras was killed. Tim Samaras' son, Paul Samaras, and another chaser, Carl Young, were also killed.
The men were from Colorado but traveled the Great Plains in search of bad weather. Tim Samaras devoted his life to studying tornadoes. He founded Twistex, which is a company committed to learning more about the storms and increasing lead time for warnings. In a statement released by his family, the three died doing what they loved.
