COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) -- Shortly after 10:00 Tuesday morning, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office was called to a single vehicle crash approximately ten miles north of the Village of Rio.

The investigation confirms a vehicle was traveling north on County Highway SS when it went off the roadway, over-corrected, entered the south ditch, and overturned.  The driver and sole occupant was partially ejected.

The 59-year-old from Portage was pronounced dead at the scene by the Columbia County Medical Examiner's Office.  That person was not wearing a seatbelt and speed is considered a contributing factor in the crash.
