COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the driver killed in a Tuesday morning crash.
59-year-old Anthony Keepes, of Portage, was pronounced dead at the scene after he had gone into a ditch and overturned his vehicle on County Highway SS, just north of the Village of Rio.
The crash remains under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the Columbia County Medical Examiner's Office.
COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) -- Shortly after 10:00 Tuesday morning, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office was called to a single vehicle crash approximately ten miles north of the Village of Rio.
The investigation confirms a vehicle was traveling north on County Highway SS when it went off the roadway, over-corrected, entered the south ditch, and overturned. The driver and sole occupant was partially ejected.
The 59-year-old from Portage was pronounced dead at the scene by the Columbia County Medical Examiner's Office. That person was not wearing a seatbelt and speed is considered a contributing factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by both the sheriff's and medical examiner's offices. Assisting in the crash were Rio EMS, Rio Fire Department, the DNR, and Blystone Towing. Sheriff Dennis Richards
