MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police say they don't suspect foul play in a death investigation on the city's west side.
Police say someone out for a walk discovered a body in a wooded area on the 7900 block of Tree Lane. The caller had initially reported the person had been decapitated, but after an investigation police say that was not the case. The body was fairly decomposed. Police believe the body had been there for about a week.
Police say they believe it's a woman's body. They have tentatively identified the person, but will not release a name until it's confirmed.
A Madison police sergeant says she doesn't believe the death to be suspicious at this time.
An investigation is ongoing. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
