Democrats delay vote on abortion bill

MADISON (WKOW) -- Democrats have delayed a vote on an abortion bill that was expected today in the Wisconsin Senate.

Senate Democrats used a procedural move to delay a final vote on passing the bill, but only until Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.

The bill would require doctors to provide or arrange an ultrasound for women seeking abortions, except in cases of medical emergency or cases where the pregnancy is caused by sexual assault or incest.

Doctors would also have to show the ultrasound image to the woman and provide a thorough description of the fetus' features.

The Assembly is scheduled to take up the bill on Thursday.

27 News Capitol Bureau Chief Greg Neumann will have live reports on today's debate over the bill in 27 News at 5 and 6.
