Sun Prairie, Stoughton win quarterfinal state baseball games
GRAND CHUTE (WKOW) -- The 66th version of the WIAA state baseball tournament began with two Madison area teams and Sun Prairie topped Waunakee 4-0 in the D1 quartefinal. It didn't take long for the defending state champs to get on the board, scoring three in the first inning. Sun Prairie pitcher Sam Lund earned a complete-game, 7 inning shutout, allowing just four hits in the game.
The Stoughton Vikings followed, playing their first state baseball game since 1984. The Vikings topped Neenah 4-3 on a walkoff suicide squeese play in the bottom of the seventh. Stoughton loaded the bases with just one out, and Ben Gerber scored the winning run just after PJ Rosowski layed down a bunt.
Stoughton moved on to face Sun Prairie in the D1 semifinals later on Tuesday night at 6pm.
