MADISON (WKOW) -- A new report from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau says state tax revenue could drop by $677 million over the next two years. The decrease in revenue is driven by a $648 million tax cut.
The nonpartisan agency released the report Thursday. It comes just days before the state Assembly is scheduled to begin its budget debate.
However, because of increased tax enforcement efforts included in the budget, it's estimated about $92 million in taxes not currently collected will be brought in over the next two years.
