MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Potawatomi Bingo Casino is defending its security protocol after a shooting on the casino floor this weekend.
A woman was shot in the leg early Sunday morning after a fight.
Some witnesses questioned the lack of action by the casino's security team.
A Potawatomi spokesman says an officer tried to break up the fight before the shots were fired, but she was knocked down and called for back up.
"It's not an armed team of security officers. Their job is to identify a threat, keep people away from that threat, move away from the threat and then become witnesses themselves until police backup arrives," says Ryan Amundson of the casino.
The shooting suspect is in custody.
The district attorney's office is reviewing the case for potential charges.
