Insanity plea in Adams County shooting

ADAMS COUNTY (WKOW) -- An Adams County man pleaded insanity on a charge that he killed his girlfriend.

Police say 28-year-old Coleman Dybul shot and killed 27-year-old Toni Voss after being startled in bed. The former Marine told them he thought Voss was being attacked. Court records show Dybul said when he woke up it was like being back in Afghanistan, "kill or be killed."

Dybul served in the Marines from 2003 to 2007.

The plea means Dybul claims he didn't know right from wrong at the time of the shooting. He'll now have to undergo a mental health review.

Dybul had previously entered a not guilty plea.

His trial is scheduled to begin in December.
