26th Annual Strawberry Fest on Saturday

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- It's strawberry season, and although this year it's getting off to a slow start, this weekend you can find plenty of them at the 26th Annual Strawberry Festival in Sun Prairie.

Many strawberry pickers across the state say they are behind in this season, but Bob Power, the executive director for the Colonial Club in Sun Prairie, says the farmer who supplies to the festival is right on schedule. Power says the festival will have over 1,000 quarts of strawberries for sale.

The Strawberry Fest is on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Colonial Club in Sun Prairie. Besides enjoying strawberries, there will also be a 5K/10K run/walk, craft fair, wine tasting, a kids area, rummage sale, book sale, drawings and raffles, and a free outdoor stage.

The festival itself is free, but all proceeds made will benefit the Colonial Club. Power says the Colonial Club is a nonprofit that enhances the well-being and independence of older adults.
