RIO (WKOW) -- The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down in Columbia County.
The agency says the twister formed Saturday about 9 p.m. There is minor tree damage, but no one was hurt. The twister was about three miles south of Rio.
RIO (WKOW) -- A trained weather spotter reported seeing a tornado on the ground near Rio in Columbia County.
The report to the National Weather Service says the tornado was wrapped in rain and had a debris cloud.
The spotter reported the tornado just before 9 p.m. Saturday, about seven miles southwest of Rio. They reported seeing the twister moving from near Arlington, crossing Goose Pond Road and dissipating north of Krier Road.
27 News contacted the Columbia County Sheriff's Department Saturday night and officers did not have any reports of damage.
The National Weather Service did have reports of storm damage in Dane County. The 911 Call Center received a report of trees down in Mazomanie and Mount Horeb. County officials also reported a tree down and completely blocking Highway JG near Highway ID near Blue Mounds.
