MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The Associated Press reports that the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is planning to make dozens of personnel files of priests and other documents related to clergy sex abuse public next week.
Victims hope the records will hold leaders accountable for covering up priests' crimes. Church leaders say it is important for the truth to come out, but most of the cases are well-known with priests who have been publicly identified.
45-year-old Illinois resident Charles Linneman says he was an alter boy when a priest abused him in 1980. Linneman says reading the man's file when it became public years ago helped him move on.
