KEWAUNEE (WKOW) -- Witnesses say they think a father gave his life to save his 5-year-old son when their van crashed into a harbor in northeast Wisconsin.
Police say the father lost control and landed in the water near Kewaunee harbor over the weekend.
Two campers pulled 5-year-old Dominic Dillenburg out of the water.
His father, Shane, didn't make it; his body was found Sunday night.
The campers and the first diver on scene think Shane died trying to save his son.
"I believe the father got his son out of the vehicle and got him over to shore in an effort to get his son up and out of the water, he was overcome or just exhausted, one of the two," said Tom Kleiman, the first diver at the scene.
Investigators hope an autopsy Tuesday will give them more information about what may have caused the crash.
