Volunteers help flood victims in southwest Wisconsin

BOSCOBEL (WKOW) -- Flood damage is now estimated at $5 million in Grant County alone.

As cleanup continues, volunteers are helping to keep spirits up.

Volunteers like 13-year-old Brenna Kvigne of Boscobel.

She lives next to a creek, but the water didn't hit her house.

She's one of the lucky ones in town, which is why she says she feels the need to help.

"I feel blessed in a way, that I can help and not worry about my own house, but I can worry about other people's houses," she said.

Wisconsin Emergency Management says 20 homes in Grant County have major flood damage and about 640 more have minor damage.

Many of those homes are in Boscobel.

Mayor Steve Wetter says many homeowners don't have flood insurance.
