MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County Executive Joe Parisi and Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney signed a declaration officially calling for a Slow/No Wake order for two lakes in the county.
Recent flooding in the area has increased lake levels and orders are issued for Lakes Monona and Waubesa. The orders are in effect for the entire surfaces of the lakes.
When orders for Slow/No Wake, boats must move as slowly as possible while still maintaining steering control and produce no wake. The order is in effect from Thursday until at least Monday, July 1st.
Those not following the orders may be subject to a citation and fine by the Dane County Sheriff's Office. Signs will be posted to inform lake users of the Slow/No Wake Order.
