K-9 service dogs recognized at Dane County Regional Airport
MADISON (WKOW) -- Two four-legged companions were honored today at Dane County Regional Airport for their services to the community.
The Dane County Bomb Squad welcomed new K-9 Odijn, who is trained to sniff out explosive substances.
The Dane County Regional Airport granted $10,000 to the Dane County Sheriff's Office to bring Odijn all the way from the Netherlands.
His two months of training equipped him for a variety of duties.
"When we start the day off, we don't know by the end of the day, the end of the shift, who knows what we will have encountered," said Deputy Sheriff Scott Lindner. "Suspicious packages, you know, searching airplanes, maybe being called out to another part of the state to do a search."
Officers also recognized another dog's service to the state.
Dani has been working as an explosive detection K-9 for 10 years and is now retiring.
