Social media campaign #1DMeetEm hopes to make a Waunakee girl's dream come true

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Waunakee girl has inspired her community to help her fight a serious disease, and now, through the use of social media, the community is hoping to make her dream of meeting the band One Direction a reality.

Emily Anhalt has Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, or FSGS, a kidney disease that has put her through multiple surgeries and infections. She's been in the hospital most of this year and missed much of the last school year dealing with many of her complications.

Anhalt was not able to make her graduating class' graduation this year, but her class wore orange ribbons on their gowns in Emily's honor. The Waunakee community is also showing support by putting orange signs in their front yards with the words, "Orange4Emily". The title is from the organization that started raising funds for her medical bills and to increase kidney illness awareness.

There is now another campaign to support Emily, but this time it supports her dream of meeting her favorite band, One Direction. American Family Insurance started a social media campaign, #1DMeetEm, to make her dream come true.

If you would like to help in the campaign, just tweet messages with #1DMeetEm at the end of your tweet. Here are some examples:
