MADISON (WKOW) -- A unique fundraiser aims to help support Special Olympics Wisconsin.
Law enforcement officers hosted the sixth annual Andrea Rose Garcia Memorial Pistol Shoot fundraiser on Sunday. Sgt. Mark Horstmann, with the Verona Police Department, started the fundraiser six years ago to get officers involved with the cause.
Those who participated in the event made a donation to get on the shooting range at Deerfield Pistol and Archery Center. All the money raised goes towards the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
"Every year it's growing," says Horstmann. "The funds that are raised every year are growing and the turnout is growing."
The fundraiser also honors Andrea Garcia who was killed in a car accident in 2009. Horstmann says her family has been involved in raising funds for Special Olympics for many years.
