CHICAGO (WKOW) -- The Badgers have hoisted the Big Ten Championship trophy three straight years. Yet, they showed up to Big Ten media day as considerable underdogs. Everywhere you turned someone was talking about Ohio State. That was just fine with running back James White.
"I feel like we're overlooked a lot of the time. I think that gives us some added motivation throughout the season. It helps us get over the top. It's the reason we probably won three Big Ten championships."
The Buckeyes, of course, are coming off an undefeated season. Yet, the Badgers took home the league title because Ohio State was not eligible. That didn't make much difference to Wisconsin linebacker Chris Borland.
"You can't commit violations and represent the conference. So, I don't apologize for it."
Ohio State has their eyes on more than just a Big Ten championship. Safety Christian Bryant says the Buckeyes have visions of another unbeaten season.
"I feel like we will go undefeated again. That's just me. I feel like we're putting in the work to become undefeated. It will come true."
Ohio State was a unanimous choice by the media to win the Leaders Division. The Buckeyes have the advantage of hosting Wisconsin on Sept. 28th. Bryant was already looking forward to that night game.
"We play them at the Horseshoe this season. So, they are going to have to come see us."
The Wisconsin players know it's not hype that made them the only school in the nation to win a conference championship each of the past three seasons. So, Borland is more than happy to let Ohio State have the preseason spotlight.
"I think Ohio State, probably in the media's eyes, has the target on their back. If we want to be the underdogs or have the target on our back, we're comfortable with anything."
