MADISON (WKOW) -- For the first time ever, Madison hosts the U.S. Open Chess Championship.
Hundreds of players will take part at the Madison Marriott West. Some as you as 5 years old all the way up to their mid-80s.
The games kicked off Saturday night after an opening ceremony.
Wisconsin has two representatives playing for the championship. One of them is Madison-native Awonder Liang; who became the youngest ever U.S. Chess Master at just 10-years-old.
