Former Badger star chases hoop dream across the world
BLUE MOUNDS (WKOW) -- It's been eight years since Mike Wilkinson donned the Badger jersey and since then, he's put on quite a few others. Wilkinson's made a living playing basketball overseas in Europe and Asia. Wilkinson's played for teams in four different countries, including Greece and Russia where he was named an All Star three different times. A few years back, Wilkinson gained citizenship in Macedonia, so he could play on it's national team, a place where he's known as Majkl Vilkinson.
Wilkinson is constantly on the move during his seasons, and even during the offseason he stays busy. He returns home to his family's farm in Blue Mounds, WI, which he co-owns, helping to maintain it in the summer months. Chopping down tall weeds, bailing hay and running the tractors, you name it and Wilkinson does it, assisting his parents Kendall and Margaret in the never ending operation.
Right now Wilkinson is unsigned, waiting for a new team to call before the basketball season begins in October. He plans to continue playing until he can't anymore. After that, he wants to own his own farm in Wisconsin.
