MADISON (WKOW) -- Two Wisconsin sports obsessions could collide when the Badgers open the 2016 season at Lambeau Field.
The Times Picayune newspaper in New Orleans is reporting a deal is nearly finalized for the University of Wisconsin to open the 2014 and 2016 seasons against Louisiana State(LSU), with the 2014 game being at Houston's Reliant Stadium and the 2016 game at Lambeau.
The newspaper cited LSU associate athletic director Verge Ausberry as saying the contract is expected to be signed next week.
"We still have some small details to work out but the contracts should be done next week," Ausberry said. "It took awhile but that's how these neutral site games are. They're in NFL stadiums and we have to go through the conference office and talk about TV rights."
This means Wisconsin would play season openers against SEC powerhouses the next three seasons: LSU in 2014 and 2016, and Alabama in 2015.
