NEW LONDON (WKOW) -- The National Weather Service says a total of five tornadoes touched down within an hour early Wednesday morning.
The strongest, an EF-2, hit New London.
It destroyed the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church.
Governor Scott Walker visited the church Thursday morning to see the damage firsthand.
The church still plans to hold its Sunday service, but it will be outside.
Meantime, thousands of people are still without power tonight, many of them in the Appleton area.
WE Energies says it hopes to have repairs finished by Saturday night.
Wisconsin Public Service finished restoring power to nearly all of its customers, so it's sending lineman to help we energies crews.
The county executive in Outagamie County asked the Wisconsin National Guard to help them clean up debris and damage from the storm.
