MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County leaders continue to work on establishing a permanent day shelter for the homeless.
Dozens of people showed up for the county's Homeless Issues Committee meeting Tuesday night.
Many voiced their concerns, saying the county hasn't met the needs of the homeless population over the past few years.
Those who spoke say they hope the committee can accelerate its planning.
"I think it's doable, I think we just have to have the will to do it," said Dave Peters, who attended the meeting to share his ideas.
The county's Health and Human Needs Committee recently turned down two proposals for a possible day center on the city's east side.
Board members say they continue to work in finding a new location.
