MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police received help from a variety of people in searching for a stolen ATV.
It started when a $22,000 ATV was stolen from Engelhart Center in Fitchburg. Shortly after, MPD got a call that someone was recklessly driving a dune buggy near the Goodman Pool. The buggy had been damaged and was spotted by a garbage truck driver near Franklin Field. The driver said the ATV had a flat tire and was smoking after the driver ran into a parked SUV and took off.
The truck driver tried following the vehicle but wasn't able to keep up. But many people in the area had seen buggy and kept police informed on his possible whereabouts.
Eventually a Parking Enforcement officer was able to track down the ATV until Madison police officers were able to arrest the suspect.
Nineteen-year-old Brack Sago first denied doing anything wrong but soon admitted he had planned to sell the ATV on Craigslist. He faces charges of Operating a Vehicle Without Owner's Consent, Felony Theft, Bail Jumping, Hit & Run and Operating Without a Valid License.
