LA CROSSE (WKOW) – A La Crosse police officer is facing drug related charges and has resigned from the force.
Brian Thomson served with the La Crosse Police Department for 15 years and most recently as a lieutenant.
Thomson was arrested on Tuesday and made his first court appearance on Wednesday.
The La Crosse Police Department initiated the investigation and then it was handed over to the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation.
Officials aren't releasing many details, but District Attorney Time Gruenke says Thomson faces misconduct in office and attempted possession of narcotics charges.
Thomson's next court appearance is August 30. He is free on a $5,000 signature bond.
