MADISON (WKOW) -- A report by the Milwaukee State Journal says Governor Scott Walker's administration gave the Capitol Police chief and his top deputy pay raises after moving them on paper to fake jobs for two weeks, then moved them back.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says that Chief Dave Erwin got a salary hike of about 12 percent to over $111,000 a year. Erwin oversaw a crackdown on anti-Walker protesters previously.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the raise was possible because Walker officials transferred Edwin to a ghost position in a different department, then transferred back to his real job as Capitol Police chief. Similar steps were taken for Deputy Police Chief Dan Blackdeer.
Walker's staff says he had no hand in authorizing the raises.
