MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police have arrested the woman involved in a burglary where she convinced hotel staff she was the wife of a man staying there.
Officers arrested Michelle R. Cerro, 56, of Madison. She was booked into the Dane County Jail and tentatively charged with Burglary.
MADISON (WKOW) -- A 31-year-old Swedish man in town for a conference met a local woman downtown and had a couple of drinks with her Saturday night.
He thought that was the end of it, however, the woman apparently had more in mind.
The man went back to his room at the Concourse Hotel and went to bed. The woman managed to convince staff she was not a stranger to the victim; she was his wife. She claimed to be locked out of "their" room.
In part, she pulled off the event by pretending to talk with him from a lobby phone. The one-sided conversation took place after an employee made a call to the room, attempting to verify the status of his spouse.
The man slept through everything, including staff letting the woman into the hotel room.
She took off with his electronics, his passport, wallet, and duffel bag.
Police have identified the suspect, a 56-year-old Madison woman, off of surveillance, but she has not yet been located.
