MADISON (WKOW -- People are showing their support for Dane County Humane Society after a recent break-in.
Shelter officials say someone broke a window, shattered a donation box, and stole about $100 from inside during the early morning hours on Wednesday. Since then, people have donated more than $1,500 to help recoup the stolen money, as well as offer to help with repairs to the window and the donation box.
DCHS Public Relations Coordinator Gayle Viney says they have also received an outpouring of kind messages.
"We shared the comments sent to us with our staff and it really buoyed their spirits," Viney said. "We are so lucky to have such a kind, loving and compassionate community."
