MADISON (WKOW) -- A local organization is giving back-to-school supplies to both children and teens from West Madison and Middleton.
Friday marked the final day of Middleton Outreach Ministry's backpack pick-up, which donated 600 stuffed backpacks to students as they begin the new school year.
Community donations flooded the program, which splits up the backpacks and fills them with supplies specific to each grade.
The program seeks to relieve families of the extra financial burden of school expenses.
"I mean, many of our families may only have one child, but many have three, and four, and you know five kids going to school," says Judy Kujoth, a case manager at MOM. "And I have school-aged children so I know it's extremely expensive, and so this just really helps out."
This is the fourteenth year of the program, which has grown drastically since its early years.
