LAKE MILLS (WKOW) -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports one man died and three people were hurt in a crash on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Vogel, 23, of Jefferson was killed when his motorcycle crossed the center line and crashed into a pickup truck. Two other motorcycles crashed to avoid the first accident. The riders were both hurt, one taken to the hospital. The pickup driver was also injured.
Vogel was a firefighter with Jefferson Fire Department for four years. Fire Chief Ron Wegner released the following statement Sunday:
"Yesterday the family of Jordan Vogel along with the members of the Jefferson fire department lost a son, brother, fellow firefighter and friend in a tragic motorcycle accident. Jordan was a firefighter with the JFD starting in April of 2009 until the time of his death. He was a dedicated firefighter as well as a caring and fun-loving man who devoted his life to serving others.
For all of us who knew Jordan, these are days of deep sadness. We ask that you keep Jordan's family and the members of the Jefferson Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers for the days to come."
Wegner says visitations are set for Friday and Saturday. The memorials will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson from 2-8 p.m. on Friday and 9-11 a.m. on Saturday.
Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath says the crash is still under investigation.
LAKE MILLS (WKOW) -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says one man died and three people are injured after a crash that happened Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff Paul Milbrath says a four vehicle crash occurred on County Highway O in the Town of Lake Mills on August 24th around 12:30 p.m. The crash involved a pickup truck and three motorcycles.
The initial investigation showed that one of the motorcycles crossed the center line and hit the pickup truck. The other motorcycles crashed trying to avoid the accident.
22-year-old Matthew Heine of Jefferson had minor injuries. 19-year-old Ruger Roehl of Watertown was injured and transported to UW Madison. 31-year-old Waterloo resident Randy Trumpf was the driver of the truck had minor injuries.
23-year-old Jordan Vogel was riding the motorcycle that hit the truck. He did not survive the crash.
Jefferson County Crash Investigation Team is still investigating this crash.
