HUMBOLDT (WKOW) -- Authorities say a pilot has only minor injuries after his home-built plane crashed shortly after takeoff around noon on August 24th.
The Brown County Sheriff's Department says the 60-year-old pilot from Green Bay lost power after taking off from a private airstrip near Humboldt. He attempted to land in a field, but the landing gear collapsed on touchdown, and the plane skidded.
The pilot's name was not released, but he is reported to have suffered only minor injuries and was treated on scene.
The plane was declared a total loss at $25,000.
The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
