MADISON (WKOW) -- A 26-year-old Madison woman is OK after being stabbed in the chest with a screwdriver late Wednesday afternoon.
Madison Police say 22-year-old Kewiana Pollard, from Madison, was the cause of a large disturbance outside on the 4700 block of Thurstan Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the area around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Witnesses told police Pollard was assaulting a previous boyfriend, and when neighbors tried to intervene and pull her back, she began making stabbing motions with a screwdriver. Police say that is when the victim was hit and scratched with the screwdriver.
Pollard tells police she was only defending herself. Police say she told them a group of people were attacking her, so she grabbed the screwdriver from a car for defense.
Police say the victim only suffered minor injuries.
