MADISON (WKOW) --- A previous record of 697.5 pounds for largest alligator caught in Mississippi.
Beth Trammell broke the record first on Saturday, reeling in a 723 pound alligator.
The record didn't last long, Dustin Bockman wrangled in a 727 pound one just two hours later.
It took Bockman and his team four hours to catch the record sized alligator.
This is the first year there has been a state-wide alligator season in Mississippi.
Bockman will now have to wait and see if his catch keeps the record, if he is beat, regulations will force him to wait until next season to catch something that big again.
