UPDATE (WKOW) --- Authorities identify the victim in the fatal Portage shooting as 22-year-old David Johnson of Pardeeville.
Portage Police Lt., Mark Hahn, tells 27 News that 19-year-old Jordan Scott of Rio was arrested after the shooting and is jailed on the tentative charge of First Degree Intentional Homicide.
Hahn says they were coworkers at the Portage Subway where the shooting took place.
Hahn says the men had a recent heated dispute at the workplace. Authorities say as Johnson arrived for work Thursday, Scott was waiting for him, confronted him, and opened fire.
UPDATE (WKOW) --- Authorities say a victim was shot and killed behind businesses in a Portage strip mall Thursday morning.
The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting.
Columbus Police tell us the arrest happened in Columbus near the hospital there.
A Portage Police Detective, Dan Pionke, says officers responded to a parking lot behind a Subway on New Pinery Road around 9 a.m. Thursday after multiple reports of shots fired.
Pionke says workers at businesses in that area are witnesses to the shooting.
A source tells us the victim worked at the Subway.
Pionke declines comment on what may have motivated the shooting.
Police will release more information later today.
UPDATE (WKOW) --- Portage School District was in high security mode earlier after contacted by police. Kids were kept inside and only could leave if a parent picked them up.
Superintendent of Portage Schools, Charles Poches, tells 27 News he was contacted by police at 9:30 a.m. and that is when they did not allow kids to go outside. Police contacted them again around 10:15 a.m. that the suspect was caught and they no longer had to have security measures in place.
Witnesses tells us the shooting in Portage happened outside a Subway restaurant.

A suspect is in custody.
Columbus Police are assisting in the investigation.
